Northern Right Whale dolphin

The Northern Right Whale dolphin is less known by people down under as this specie of dolphin lives specifically in the Northern hemisphere.

One special characteristic that the Northern Right Whale dolphin shares with another specie of dolphin is the fact that it has no dorsal fin. That other type of dolphin is called the Southern Right Whale dolphin.

Like the Southern Right Whale dolphin, the Northern Right Whale dolphin can attain a maximum weight of 115 kg. As for its length, like its cousin from the Southern hemisphere, it varies from 2.3-3 meters long.

The Northern Right Whale dolphin mainly eats cephalopods and fishes. Despite the fact that it lives in a specific region, it is not on the endangered dolphins list.

The scientific name of the Northern Right Whale dolphin is Lissodelphis borealis. As you can see, this type of dolphin has some interesting facts to share with us.
